PART 1: GENERAL

1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A. Provide an athletic wood, modular flooring system consisting, in general, wood laminate flooring with a maple finish, vapor retarder, finishes and painted game lines.
B. Provide an athletic wood flooring system, which has been manufactured to maintain performance criteria, stated by manufacturer without defects, damage or failure.
1.3 SUBMITTALS
Specifier Note: the following are typical submittals. The specifier should change, add or omit what ever he/she deems necessary.
A. Product data, including manufacturers information for specified products
B. Selection and verification samples for finishes, colours and textures.
C. Shop drawings showing layout, profiles, product components and finishing details.
D. Installation and maintenance instructions as published by the manufacturer.
1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. The manufacturer must have experience in the manufacturing of portable athletic wood-flooring systems.
Specifier Note: specify mock-up dimensions as instructed by Owner or Architect.
B. Installation of mock-up is recommended and must be deemed acceptable by Owner and Architect. Mock-up to be installed following the same procedure and material as per the actual floor. Muck-up size: XX x XX (XXcm x XXcm)
1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Materials must be delivered in manufacturers original, unopened and undamaged special protective trays with identification labels intact.
B. The special protective trays measure approximately 4 x 4 x 4 (1.21m x 1.21m x 1.21m) and weight approximately 1323lbs (600kg). 26 trays are needed to stock one court, which fit in a 40 (12.1m) container.
C. Store material protected from exposure to harmful weather conditions, on a clean, dry, flat surface protected from all possible damage.
D. Recommended environmental conditions for storage are a relative temperature in the range of 65oF to 75 oF (18oC to 24 oC), and ambient humidity in the range of 35% to 50%.
E. Material should not suffer excessive damage during handling (i.e. edge chipping, excessive warping etc).
1.6 SITE CONDITIONS
A. Recommended environmental conditions:
- Temperature range: 65oF to 75oF (18oC to 24oC).
- Relative humidity range: 35% to 50%.
B. Installation of portable athletic wood flooring will not commence unless all other finishes in the building have been completed and the HVAC systems are operational and able to sustain stable environmental conditions (as specified).
1.7 WARRANTY
A. Provide manufacturers standard warranty.
B. The athletic portable wood flooring is warranted to be free from manufacturing defects for a period of one (1) year from the date of shipment from the manufacturer.

2.2 FAST BREAK SYSTEM
2.2.1 Description
A. Prefabricated athletic wood floor system as manufactured by MONDO AMERICA INC., or approved equal.
B. Fast Break System flooring, provided in 2 6 x 4 (0.76m x 1.21m) panels of 1 13/16 (46mm) thickness, consisting of 1/5 (5mm) maple or beech finish, 1/4 (6mm) multiple stabilizing layers, 12/16 (19mm) marine grade plywood and 10/16 (16mm) Baselast strips placed at intervals.
2.3 MATERIAL
A. Provide athletic wood flooring system (as specified in subsection 2.2.1).
B. Provide Vapor Barrier to be 6 mils polyethylene.
C. Provide Mondo TAC, 5 5/16 x 2 3/8 x 9/16 (13.5cm x 6cm x 14mm) high, arched connectors selected as per the intended purpose.
D. TAC interconnectors provided, in pares of two for longitudinal and transverse sides of panels separately.
E. Provide perimeter reducers, 7 14/16 x 13/16 (20cm x 46mm) thick.
F. Provide backstop panels, 11 13/16 x 7 3/8 x 13/16 (3.6m x 2.25m x 46mm) thick, with adjustable leveling supports.
G. Provide TAC-removal specialty tool.
Specifier Note: accessories should be changed in accordance with the project specifications.
H. Provide Finishing material to be specified by Architect and applied according to manufacturers specifications.
PART 3: EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLERS
A. Refer to section 1.4 of this document for information on installers.
3.2 EXAMINATION AND PREPARATION
The following must be ensured prior to installation of the primary product:
A. Cover concrete with 6-mil polyethylene, sealing and lapping joints a minimum of 6 (152mm).
B. Concrete substrate to be placed a minimum of thirty (30) days prior to the installation of floor system.
C. Smooth, dense finish, highly compacted with a tolerance of 1/8 in a 10ft radius (3.2mm in 3.05m radius).
Specifier Note: the following are considered common practice subfloor examination and preparation, to receive floor-finishing products, and as such should not be omitted or altered in any case.
D. Subfloor must be clean, free of paint, thick dust, sealer, hardeners, grease, oil, solvents, old adhesive and any other foreign substances.
E. Sealing of cracks, holes and, smoothing and leveling of rough, uneven surfaces, must be carried out using a good quality Portland cement based leveling compound (feathering compound), approved by the manufacturer.
F. The beginning of installation stipulates the acceptance of surface and site conditions.
G. Installation will not be carried out unless above conditions are satisfied.
H. Report any discrepancies to the General Contractor for correction.
3.3 INSTALLATION
Review manufacturers printed instructions prior to installation.
3.3.1 Floor System
A. Measure the installation area and insure that the portable system is installed in the center of the room.
B. Install panels in one direction.
C. Connect panels by tongue and groove assembly process.
D. Place TAC interconnectors between each panel, longitudinally (long edge) and transversely (short edge).
E. Place reducers along the perimeter of the court installation, attaching/anchoring them to the subfloor. Do not place reducers at location were backstop areas are to be installed.
F. In order to attach/anchor the reducers the following options are presented:
Specifier Note: select one of the following options (a) to (c) as per project requirements.
a. Drilling 1/4 (6.4mm) holes in the concrete subfloor and anchoring the reducers (recommended for permanent installation).
b. Placing masking tape on the subfloor and adhering the reducers to it with silicone (recommended for small duration installation).
c. Placing double sided tape and adhering the reducer (recommended were immediate removal will follow).
Specifier Note: the following is to be omitted if the Backstop (Basket assembly/unit) is equipped with adjustable supports capable of levelling the unit with the portable court.
3.3.2 Backstop Areas Installation
A. Two (2) additional wood areas are to be installed on either side (short sides) of the court, for the Backstop units.
B. Install backstop panels at predetermined locations (i.e. were there are no reducers), by engaging the tongue and groove mechanism.
C. Place reducers along the perimeter (bare edges) of the backstop panel.
3.3.3 Removal
A. Remove the backstop units and/or panels (if applicable) from the additional area around the court.
B. Remove the reducers from the perimeter edge of the court.
C. Using the special TAC removal tool, remove the interconnectors.
D. Disengage the tongue and groove connections of the panels.
E. Pack flooring in special trays.
F. Store flooring for latter use as specified in section 1.5 of this document.
