Related works 3 3.1 Description 1. Scope: The complete installation of a 6mm (1/4"), 8mm (5/16"), 10mm (3/8") or 12mm (1/2") prefabricated rubber sports surfacing, double durometer or homogenous vulcanized and calandered, with a special texture including adhesive and striping. 2. Related Specifications: a) Installation of concrete, bituminous or wood substrate. b) Water vapor membrane shall be as per ASTM E 1745-97. c) Preparation of substrate to provide a smooth, dense finish highly compacted with a tolerance of 1/8" in a 10-foot radius. FF and FL numbers are not recognized. d) No concrete sealers or curing compounds are to be apply or mix with the concrete substrate. NOTE: Water/cement ratio will directly affect the drying time of the slab and the moisture vapor emissions. 3.2 Quality assurance 1. The manufacturer to be a firm experienced in the manufacturing of prefabricated rubber sport flooring. 2. Installer must have successfully completed installations of the same scale in the last three years. 3. Installer to be recognized and approved by the rubber sport flooring manufacturer. 3.3 Submittals Submit three of the following: 1. Sample of the actual sport surface in the standard color(s) selected. 2. Technical data sheets of the product. 3. Adhesive product data sheets and manufacturer's certificate indicating approval for the proposed application. 4. Line paint data sheets and the manufacturer's certificate indicating approval for the proposed application. 1.5 Maintenance 1. Submit three (3) copies of the maintenance instruction.
3. Maintenance material must be from the same dye lot. 1.6 Delivery and storage Deliver and store the material in the original packaging with the labels intact in a controlled environment of a minimum temperature of 55°F (13°C) and under 50% relative humidity. Protect work until accepted by owner. 1.7 Project conditions 1. Maintain a stable room and subfloor temperature, minimum 65°F (18°C), for a period of 48 hours prior to, during and 48 hours after installation. 2. Rubber sport flooring should not be installed before the concrete or asphalt subfloor has cured for a minimum of thirty (30) days. 3. Moisture vapor emission of the concrete slab must not exceed 3 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. In 24 hours when using the calcium chloride test as per ASTM F1869-98. 4. Installation of the rubber sport flooring shall only commence once all work related to other craftsmen and trades have been completed. Note: It is the responsibility of the General contractor to provide to the flooring contractor a site that meets these conditions. 1.8
Warranty
2.1 Material 1. Prefabricated rubber sport flooring to be SPORTFLEX M 6mm (1/4"), 8mm (5/16"), 10mm (3/8") or 12mm (1/2") thickness, with a non-slip, non-reflecting, highly spike resistant top surface as manufactured by MONDO AMERICA INC. or approved equal. Provided in standard colors. 2. Prefabricated rubber surface to be sheet goods, calandered and vulcanized with a particular closed cell structure, based on special isoprenic rubbers, mineral fillers, vulcanizing and stabilizing agents and color pigments, highly resistant to UV rays and atmospherical agents, with system of differentiated elasticity between top surface and base, supplied in rolls of suitable size and thickness. 3. Prefabricated rubber sport surface to be manufactured in two layers, which are vulcanized together. The shore hardness of the lower layer to be less than the upper layer, shore hardness of the respected layers to be recommended by the manufacturer and within the limits hereinafter specified. Field laminated triple durometer are unacceptable. 4. Physical properties of the prefabricated sport surface to conform to the requirements found in the following table:
Manufacturer reserves the right to change, at any time without notice, the physical properties or specifications to improve the products or production process. 2.2 Adhesive Rubber sport surface adhesive to be two part polyurethane adhesive suitable for adherence of a rubber sport flooring to asphalt, concrete or urethane substrate. Adhesive to be supplied or approved/recommended by rubber sport flooring manufacturer. 2.3 Patching compound Patching compound to be supplied or approved/recommended by rubber sport flooring manufacturer. 2.4 Line marking Line marking paint to be supplied by rubber sport flooring manufacturer. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.1 Inspection Ensure that substrates are dry and exhibit neutral alkalinity. Moisture (calcium chloride) tests are recommended on various area of the subfloor. 3.2 Floor preparation 1. Remove subfloor ridges and bumps. Fill low spots, cracks, joints, holes and other defects with patching compound. 2. Clean floor and apply and float filler to leave smooth, flat, hard surface. Prohibit traffic until filler is cured. 3. Subfloor is to be prepared as per manufacturer's recommendations. 3.3 Installation 1.
Install sport flooring in accordance with manufacturer's printed instructions. 3. Cut and adjust sport flooring prior to adhesion. 4. Mix adhesive in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. 5. Hold all seams in place with suitable weights for a minimum of 12 hours. 6. Lines to be painted as per manufacturer's recommendations. 7. Surface to be protected before, during and after installation until project's acceptance by the owner or his agent. -END
